With Alistair Overeem likely out of UFC 146, several fans started a campaign to get Mark Hunt the title shot. Some Cagereaders agreed on Hunt, while others wanted to see Frank Mir or Cain Velasquez.
As fun of a story as Hunt would be, it doesn't make sense from a competition or business standpoint. Mir is the only real logical choice to move up. -- Ryan Wahl

The last thing Dana and us UFC fans want is a 30 sec KO like JDS did to Cain, make a co-main event. Hell, if you don't want to get all political, put Mir vs. Cain as co-main event with Hunt vs. JDS (non-belt) that way win or lose JDS will fight winner of Mir vs. Cain, and when Hunt KO's JDS, Hunt will fight the winner of JDS vs. MIr or Cain. Either give Velasquez a shot to redeem himself, or let Mir get hits wits knocked in... Either way, I'm going to be sitting on the edge of my seat! Hunt is good by all means, but Co-Main Event is his spot for sure. dos Santos will have a war on his hands with the likes of Velasquez and Mir, which will give the fans a better Main Event. Both fighters will make a goood event I think, but then again it would be 2 different fights. With Hunt it will be more of a slug fest, pound for pound as for Mir it would be more of a strategical fight. And now, for the big man. Lesnar has inspired strong opinions from the second he stepped foot in the cage. That didn't stop this week as hundreds of comments were made on Facebook and in the comment section.
Some fans don't want to see him in WWE because they wanted him to stay in MMA. Others thought he "failed" at MMA. If winning and defending the UFC heavyweight belt while also battling a debilitating gastrointestinal condition is failing, I hope to be a failure like Lesnar one day.
What is WWE doing? Is there NOT enough CURRENT WWE superstars? First let's bring back the Rock and now Lesnar. WHY! ? I love how Lesnar is back in WWE. I was gonna stop watching it until he showed up. he started in WWE and will end in WWE. <P>Few people will forget where they were when they heard that the King of Pop, <a href="/news/articles/1614744/michael-jackson-dies-at-50.jhtml">Michael Jackson, had died</a> in June 2009. And now, the same can be said for 1980s and '90s <a href="/news/articles/1679029/whitney-houston-dead.jhtml">Queen of Pop Whitney Houston</a>. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Celebrities React To Whitney Houston's Passing" id="vid:733106.id:1679030" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>The beloved, long-suffering singer died Saturday inside a Beverly Hills hotel room, hours before she was expected to attend a <a href="/news/articles/1679046/whitney-houston-dies-grammys-clive-davis.jhtml">pre-Grammy Awards party thrown by her longtime mentor Clive Davis</a>. </P><P> </P><P>And while the official cause of death is yet unknown — what's been speculated so far is that <a href="/news/articles/1679049/whitney-houston-dies-details.jhtml">Houston may have drowned</a> in the bathtub after taking prescription drugs, including Xanax — given her very public struggle with substance abuse, depression and anxiety over the past decade, it's hard not to conclude that some drug- or alcohol-related accident may have been to blame. </P><P> </P><P>It's much like, most recently, British singer Amy Winehouse and the late, great Michael Jackson before her, who died after taking a fatal cocktail of propofol and two other drugs. Mo Lawal apologizes for tweet about Nevada commissioner
On "No Holds Barred" radio and later in a video with CSN Bay Area, Mo Lawal apologized to Nevada Athletic Commissioner Pat Lundvall for calling her a slur for women on his Twitter account.
"I was out of line for calling the woman the 'b' word and I was wrong for that," Lawal told CSN California. "I was kind of mad about the comments, I was offended by the comments made towards me and I was out of line. I was too emotional. I apologize for that. With that being said, I still feel that I was offended, but I'm in the wrong for what I said."
Lawal has not changed his stance on Lundvall's tone towards him. In the end, it does not matter if anyone else but Lawal found her questioning racist, because it was directed at Lawal. Based on his experiences in his life, he found it to be racist and was offended, and he has a right to feel that way. Lashing out against Lundvall with that language wasn't the best move, which is why he apologized.
Apologizing was a smart thing for Lawal to do because he can now move on from this incident. It won't continue to hang over his head as he continues to rehabilitate from knee surgery and a life-threatening staph infection.

'Glee' Star Chris Colfer Teases Michael Jackson Tribute Episode

<P>Fox's song-and-dance series "Glee" is no stranger to a star-studded cameo or two, with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, John Stamos and Kristin Chenoweth all walking the halls of McKinley High during the past two and a half seasons. And as the show returns from a month-long hiatus, Gleeks aren't the only ones anticipating a few more famous faces. As star Chris Colfer told MTV News on the Golden Globes red carpet, there's plenty to look forward to when New Directions warble again January 17. </P><P> </P><P>"Well, the Michael Jackson episode ...," Colfer answered when asked about his most-anticipated upcoming episodes. "We have a Spanish episode coming up with Ricky Martin. The actor/singer recently <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/ricky_martin/status/155141894333140993" target="_blank">tweeted</a> a joyful picture from his first day on set. </P><P> </P><P>As to how the King of Pop's prolific songbook will manifest itself in the January 31 tribute episode, Colfer explained, "Well, I sing part of 'Black [or] White.' I'm the 'White' in 'Black [or] White,' and I sing 'Ben,' that famous song he wrote for the rat." </P><P> </P><P>The rodent in question is the pet of a young boy named Danny in the 1972 film "Ben." Jackson sang a version of the theme song that appeared in the movie's closing credits and was later included on his 1972 album also named <em>Ben</em>. Michael Jackson Doctor Can't Afford Lawyer For Appeal
Conrad Murray asks judge for a court-appointed attorney to appeal his involuntary manslaughter conviction.

<P>Just weeks after being sent to jail for <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">four years</a> following a conviction on a felony involuntary manslaughter charge in the death of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml" target="_blank">Michael Jackson</a>, cardiologist Conrad Murray is throwing himself on the mercy of the court. </P><P> </P><P>The doctor had been slated to earn up to $150,000 a month to act as Jackson's personal physician before the pop icon's death in June 2009 from an overdose of the Murray-administered surgical anesthetic propofol. But on Tuesday <a href="http://www.eonline.com/news/conrad_murray_in_shackles_asks/280479" target="_blank"><I>E! News</I></a> reported that Murray filed a <a href="/news/articles/1675343/conrad-murray-conviction-appeal.jhtml">notice of appeal</a> in Los Angeles Superior Court in which he claimed that he is "indigent and respectfully requests the appointment of counsel on appeal." </P><P> </P><P>Murray, 58, is planning to appeal both his conviction and his sentence, but has not yet filed papers with the California Appeals Court. He had hired two lawyers to handle his manslaughter case, but is now seeking attorneys with appeal experience. One of those former lawyers, J. Michael Flanagan, told E! that he was shocked at how his client is being treated in jail. </P><P> </P><P>"It is crazy and unbelievable how [the sheriffs] are treating" Murray in jail, said Flanagan, who claimed he waited over an hour to see Murray, who was brought out in handcuffs and leg chains. Flanagan was further shocked to see Murray handcuffed to the table for their meeting, something the lawyer said he'd never seen before in the case of a low-level, non-violent offender. </P><P> </P><P>Charles Peckham, who is handling civil cases against Murray, told the <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/doctor-convicted-in-michael-jacksons-death-seeking-court-paid-attorney-for-appeal/2011/12/13/gIQAHIYGsO_story.html" target="_blank"><I>Associated Press</I></a> that his client is under tight security and isolation that is more intense than other inmates at the Los Angeles Men's Central Jail. </P><P> </P><P>"Treating him like Hannibal Lecter is offensive," said Peckham. "This man who saved lives made a mistake, and they're going to [make] him pay like a mass-murderer." Sheriff's officials defended the tight security, saying it was for Murray's safety.</p>

If you were confused when we chose the 2013 SRT Viper GTS-R ALMS race car as the second-best debut (behind the 2013 SRT Viper production car itself) at the 2012 New York Auto Show, then maybe you're not familiar with the Viper's racing pedigree. Fortunately, the American Le Mans Series has produced this excellent mini documentary that helps explain why the Viper's return to racing is a very big deal.
While the Viper had been racing in various series both domestic and international before entering the inaugural season of ALMS in 1999, it began a streak in this fledgeling North American motorsport that was, in a word, dominant. During the 1999 season, Team Oreca won six ALMS races in a row in the GTS class with their Viper GTS-R racecar. The only reason the team didn't sweep the eight-race season is because they missed the first two races. Team Oreca and the original Viper GTS-R came close to sweeping the 2000 season, though, winning eight of ten races, only falling twice to their arch rivals from Corvette Racing. Their winning streak spanned two seasons and 12 consecutive races. They also won their class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
Unfortunately, factory support for the program ended in 2001 and the Viper's dominance quickly evaporated as private teams could not match Team Oreca's OEM-backed success. Still, under the wing of Team Oreca and backed by Dodge, the Viper GTS-R amassed an impressive record of 16 race wins in 18 starts. And that's why the car's return to ALMS' GT class is a very big deal. Check out the video after the jump.

Lorenzo 'put everything' into win
Yamaha Factory Racing rider Jorge Lorenzo claimed a sensational victory this evening (Sunday) under the dramatic floodlights of the Losail circuit, finally claiming his first premier class Grad Prix of Qatar win. Lorenzo took the lead from the start and held off rival Casey Stoner for the first few laps before conceding the lead and tucking into second. The Mallorcan then played the waiting game, never letting Stoner more than two seconds ahead. With seven laps to go he started to close the distance as Stoner’s pace dropped off, holding off a determined Dani Pedrosa on his tail to take the lead. Lorenzo crossed the line 0.852 seconds ahead of Pedrosa, taking the lead in the 2012 Championship standings with 25 points.
Ben Spies' first race of the season proved to be a tough one for the Texan, battling major chatter issues from the start of the race. Although unable to hold a competitive pace Spies kept his cool and hung on to take 11th at the line and five Championship points in the process.
Jorge Lorenzo:
"What an amazing race! I put everything I have, all my energy on the track, into this victory is because I never gave up, kept pushing and trying. Casey was very strong at the beginning and opened a gap. Fortunately for us he struggled at the end and dropped his pace where I could keep mine so I managed to pass him. I am very grateful to Yamaha because they have made a big step this winter on the YZR-M1."
Ben Spies:
"A tough race but sometimes that’s just the way it goes. I tested my airbag twice this weekend; good to know it works well! We’ll go back to Jerez now and hopefully have the bike issue sorted. It was good that Jorge won, we can see the Yamaha is going well, we just had a big problem with chatter so we have to work out what it was."
Wilco Zeelenberg, Team Manager:
"What can I say, what a great victory! A typical Lorenzo win, he’s won a few races like that, he never gives up. Because of this he was able to win. Of course Casey was struggling a bit with his hand issue but I don’t think we had the perfect set up either. Jorge pushed really hard the last few laps, taking a lot of risks but that’s what it takes in this class to win. He really deserved it. The team also deserve thanks as they worked very hard all weekend for this result."
Massimo Meregalli, Team Director:
"The chatter suddenly appeared on Ben’s bike in warm up and we couldn’t solve it before the race. We’re not sure why it was yet but the engineers will work on it and we will try to ensure we have the problem solved by Jerez. An impressive victory for Jorge, I don’t have the right words to say how impressive. I think he was superior all weekend, now we go to Spain with a lot of optimism; there was no better way for him to start the season. Fantastic to also see both Cal and Andrea doing so well, it says a lot about the YZR-M1’s performance."

Ke$ha Celebrates National Coming Out Day
'We R Who We R' T-shirts support the Human Rights Campaign.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/kesha_/artist.jhtml">Kesha</a> has joined forces with the Human Rights Campaign to help celebrate National Coming Out Day on Tuesday (October 11). </P><P> </P><P>The pop singer created a special message T-shirt, featuring a purple zebra, that <a href="/news/articles/1653432/kehas-we-r-who-we-r-video-is-hot-and-dangerous.jhtml">proclaims "We R Who We R,"</a> the title of her hit anthem about individuality. The shirts sell for $35, with all proceeds supporting the HRC's work to achieve equality for the LGBT community. </P><P> </P><P>According to the <a href="http://www.hrc.org/press-releases/entry/human-rights-campaign-unveils-t-shirt-collaboration-with-kesha" </P><P>target="_blank">HRC website</a>, only 1,000 shirts will be produced. </P><P> </P><P>Others are also using the day to bring awareness to LGBT issues. Several notable celebrities will be honored by the Equality Forum, which is hosting an event and profiling notable LGBT members in pop culture. </P><P> </P><P>As <a href="http://miamiherald.typepad.com/gaysouthflorida/2011/10/lgbt-history-month-honors-ricky-martin-wanda-sykes-ryan-murphy-pedro-zamora-27-other-icons.html#ixzz1aTgr8yl4" target="_blank">LGBT History Month</a> rolls on throughout October, Ricky Martin, Wanda Sykes, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy and Pedro Zamora, a former "The Real World" castmember turned AIDS activist, all will be profiled by the organization. </P><P> </P><P>"We're the only minority worldwide that's not taught history at home, in school or religious institutions," said Malcolm Lazin, Equality Forum's founder and executive director. "Like every group that's been marginalized, it really helps to make the case why we should take real pride in ourselves and our community." </P><P> </P><P>Since launching the program five years ago, over 200 icons have been profiled, including Jane Lynch, Lady Gaga and Neil Patrick Harris. Lazin called LGBT month "empowering and life affirming." </P><P> </P><P>The message comes amid increased awareness about young people being bullied, including MTV's <a href="http://www.athinline.org">A Thin Line</a> campaign. The MTV film <a href="http://www.mtv.com/shows/disconnected/series.jhtml">"DISconnected,"</a> which premiered Monday night, focuses on issues in a world where technology controls personal lives. </P><P> </P><P>"I see the viciousness of people every day," said <a href="/news/articles/1672289/jersey-shore-vinny-disconnected-fight-negativity.jhtml"><P>id="1672289">"Jersey Shore" star Vinny Guadagnino</a> on the "DISconnected" after show. 'Glee' Michael Jackson Episode: Rumored Set List Leaks
Perez Hilton reports that January 24 episode includes a 'Beat It' and 'Billie Jean' mash-up.

<P>"Glee" has already dedicated entire episodes to <a href="/news/articles/1637098/madonna-gives-props-to-glee-episode.jhtml">Madonna</a>, <a href="/news/articles/1648829/britney-spears-glee-episode-everything-you-need-to-know.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> and <a href="/news/articles/1639871/glee-lady-gaga-episode-is-fantastic-matthew-morrison-says.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>, and come 2012, it's the King of Pop's turn. </P><P> </P><P>A rumored set list for the January 24 "Glee" Michael Jackson tribute episode has hit the Web, and it features some of the late singer's greatest hits. <a href="http://perezhilton.com/2011-12-27-glee-michael-jackson-tribute-episode-setlist#.TvoRm0rkk7A" target="_blank">Perez Hilton</a> reports that 14 tracks have made the final cut, although the list has yet to be confirmed by anyone connected with the show. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'Glee' Cast Members Talk Michael Jackson Episode" id="vid:549513.id:1645343" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>The set list (along with who will perform the track) reportedly includes "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' " (Blaine), "Bad" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" (Finn and Rachel), "Smooth Criminal" (Santana and Sebastian), "Never Can Say Goodbye" (Quinn), "In the Closet" (Brittany and Santana), "We Are the World" (the New Directions and the Warblers), "Black and White" (Puck), "Ghost"/"Monster" (New Directions), "Beat It"/"Billie Jean" (Warblers), "The Way You Make Me Feel" (Kurt) and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" (Artie). </P><P> </P><P>This is hardly the first time the show has paid homage to Jackson. Back in 2010, the <a href="/news/articles/1657395/glee-thriller.jhtml">New Directions performed his track "Thriller,"</a> complete with zombie garb, during an episode that aired after the Super Bowl. The show has also previously covered "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" and "Man in the Mirror." </P><P> </P><P>Back in 2010, the cast of the hit Fox show had only imagined what it would be like to have an entire <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/08/09/glee-michael-jackson/">episode dedicated to Jackson</a>. "I would love to do a Michael Jackson episode," Amber Riley told MTV News at the time. "You know, it's so many [songs that I love], but my favorite song by him is 'Human Nature.' I love that song." </P><P> </P><P>While Riley seemed psyched about the opportunity, castmate Jenna Ushkowitz found the possibility a little more daunting. Jon Jones, Rashad Evans’ UFC 145 feud affects teammates and coaches, too
But fighters don't train in a vacuum. They have coaches and training partners who walk every step with the fighter until that last one into the Octagon. A fighter's team will live and breathe that bout, which is why so many fighters refer to themselves as "we" when talking about their fights. Jones and Evans' feud ripped apart more than their friendship. It pulled Evans away from Greg Jackson, the coach and friend he had worked with for years.
For the first time, Jackson will look across the cage at Evans. He made that decision after getting advice from Mike Winkeljohn, Jackson's partner in their MMA gym in New Mexico. Winkeljohn told Bleacher Report why he wanted Jackson to corner Jones:
But he upset me in that he kept throwing Greg under the bus. Enough is enough. You have your disagreements, I understand that, but there's more important things out there. And it's time for Greg to work in Jon's corner. Jon's here everyday, helping everybody else out. I mean Jon's that guy. He goes out of his way to help everybody here on the team. So I told Greg, "work his corner."
Though fighting is a business and everyone is expected to act like a professional, that doesn't make it easy for Jackson to work against a fighter he helped build.

Lil Wayne, T.I., Wiz Khalifa To Get 'Sleazy' With Ke$ha
Tip confirms second remix in the works for track, which previously featured a remix verse from Andre 3000.

Now, a few more rappers want to get dirty with the glittery pop singer. </P><P> </P><P><a href="http://www.xxlmag.com/news/2011/10/t-i-andre-300-lil-wayne-wiz-khalifa-record-kesha-remix" target="_blank">XXLmag.com</a> reports that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/t_i_/artist.jhtml">T.I.</a> plans to jump on the track, and Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa will also be joining Andre and Tip on a new version of "Sleazy." </P><P> </P><P>Weezy should be a welcome addition to <a href="/news/articles/1651081/keha-gets-sleazy-on-new-cannibal-track.jhtml">Ke$ha's dance tune</a>, as it sounds somewhat like Wayne's single "A Milli." And while not much else is known about the remix, T.I. promised that he's going to go big with his verse. </P><P> </P><P>"I haven't heard anybody but mine. ... I'm gonna put my money on mine," the newly freed rapper, who <a href="/news/articles/1671950/ti_prison-release.jhtml">ended an 11-month prison sentence</a> in September, told the website. </P><P> </P><P>The Andre 3000 remix dropped earlier this year and appears on K-Dollar Sign's album <i>Cannibal.</i> The guys will have a lot of swagger to compete with because when Andre appeared on the first remix, he had this to say: "We start out so cute in our baby pictures/ That mama shot for our daddy so that he wouldn't forget you/ He forgot anyway, but hey, one day he'll remember/ If not, he's human, I'm human, you human, we'll forgive him/ I call her Keisha, she like it because it's 'hood to her/ She call me Andre 6000 because I'm good to her." </P><P> </P><P>Tip told XXLmag.com that his appearance on the Ke$ha song is just one of many remixes he's amped about. He has also worked on remixes for Meek Mill and Rick Ross's "Ima Boss," as well as Jay-Z and Kanye West's <i>Watch the Throne</i> song "N---as in Paris." </P><P> </P><P>"I'm looking for some more records to jump on," he said. "That's what I'm doin' right now. I'm commandeering hit records right now. I'm hijacking hit records. Jennifer Lawrence Says "Screw PETA!"
Controversy between celebrities and the animal rights organization PETA is not uncommon and now Jennifer Lawrence is the latest star to be added to the list.
Just after the latest Kim Kardashian flour bombing scandal, PETA is now firing back at "The Hunger Games" starlet for her comments in a recent interview with Rolling Stones magazine.
When the 21 year-old actress was asked about a previous squirrel-skinning scene from her 2010 film, "Winter's Bone," she replied by saying, "I should say it wasn't real, for PETA, but screw PETA."
Of course, once PETA got wind of Lawrence's remarks, they had their own opinion to add.
The organization's president, Ingrid Newkirk, spoke with Gothamist on Tuesday morning (April 10), explaining, "She's young and the plight of animals somehow hasn't yet touched her heart. As Henry David Thoreau said, 'The squirrel you kill in jest, dies in earnest,'" adding, "When people kill animals, it is the animals who are 'screwed,' not PETA, and one day I hope she will try to make up for any pain she might cause any animal who did nothing but try to eke out a humble existence in nature."

Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen rematch is on for June in Brazil
"This will be the biggest sporting event of the year," said UFC president Dana White. "Bigger than the NFL, the NBA, you name it - UFC 147 will be the biggest. The whole world wants to see this fight between Silva and Sonnen. We are broadcast in over 150 countries in 22 languages in half a billion homes. Wherever those fans are, they are going to be watching this fight."
Don't anybody tell White, but this is an Olympic year. One fight card in Brazil will not surpass even the opening ceremony for the Summer Olympics, but it's a nice goal. Joao Havelange holds 46,931 for a soccer match, but presumably, floor seats will help the UFC break its record of 55,000 set at UFC 129 in Toronto.
Regardless of how many people tune in or turn out for the fights, this rematch will be fun. The last time the two fought, Sonnen beat up Silva for 4 1/2 rounds. Three minutes into the final round, Silva used a triangle armbar to submit Sonnen. Since then, animosity between the two has reached epic levels. Sonnen still refuses to admit that he lost to Silva.

The latest from MMA's yentes includes a Bellator championship bout and the debut of a jiu-jitsu pioneer.
-- Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney announced on "MMA Uncensored" that Eric Prindle -- who just won the Bellator heavyweight tournament by Thiago Santos not making weight -- will take on champ Cole Konrad for the title on April 13 in Atlantic City.
-- UFC 145's pay-per-view will feature six main card fights. Miguel Torres' bout with Michael McDonald will now be on on the pay-per-view that will be headlined by Jon Jones putting his belt on the line against Rashad Evans.
-- At UFC 148, Melvin Guillard will try to snap his losing streak against Team Blackhouse fighter Fabricio Camoes. Guillard's last two bouts were first-round losses to Jim Miller and Joe Lauzon, while Camoes is coming off of a submission win over Tom Hayden.
-- Milton Viera, a jiu-jitsu star who is credited for creating the anaconda choke, will make his UFC debut at at UFC 147 in Brazil against Felipe Arantas. (An earlier version of this post said anaconda joke. While it was a typo, it was at least a funny one.)

She recalled meeting the singer for the first time 15 years ago, just as she was breaking into the industry herself. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Whitney Houston: Life And Music Of An Icon" id="id:1679030" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>"The loss of Whitney Houston is painful. I remember meeting Whitney for the first time when I was 15. She was the ultimate legend. The ultimate woman. Not only was she confident, poised, stunningly beautiful and intelligent, but she was sincere and kind," she said in a statement to MTV News. "She took the time to make everyone feel like they were very important to her." </P><P> </P><P>Beyoncé continued in the statement that Houston's killer vocal abilities helped make her the superstar she was. "I, like every singer, always wanted to be just like her. Her voice was perfect. Strong but soothing. Soulful and classic. Her vibrato, her cadence, her control. So many of my life's memories are attached to a Whitney Houston song," she said. "She is our queen and she opened doors and provided a blueprint for all of us.
