Three Stars from UFC 136: Edgar, Sonnen and Lauzon

Three Stars from UFC 136: Edgar, Sonnen and Lauzon

UFC 136 started out slow, as the first six fights went to decision. Things changed once the pay-per-view started, as fans were given their $54.95's worth in every main card bout. Who were your three stars? Tell us in the comments on Facebook.

No. 1 star -- Frankie Edgar: How do you erase every bad memory from a draw? Withstand a first-round onslaught from Gray Maynard, then knock him out in the fourth round. Edgar defended his belt for the third time by following a smart but aggressive strategy that ended with a decisive KO. He has plenty of fighters, including Strikeforce champ Gilbert Melendez, vying for the right to fight him next, but for now, Edgar can just enjoy not thinking about Maynard for another minute.

No. 2 star -- Chael Sonnen: Which performance was more impressive: his dismantling of Stann, or his speech calling out Anderson Silva after the bout? Sonnen used slick takedowns before choking out Stann with an arm triangle in the second round. Then, he asked for a bout with Silva, but "raised the stakes" by challenging him to a win-or-go-home bout. The UFC has not confirmed that Sonnen will get the next middleweight title shot, but they would only fail to make it if they suddenly decided that they hated making money.

No. 3 star -- Joe Lauzon: His last three wins were slick submissions, so it's no surprise that Melvin Guillard forgot that Lauzon can throw a punch, too. His strike in the first minute of their bout wobbled Guillard enough that Lauzon was able to return to his bread and butter, as he slapped on a rear-naked choke that Guillard could not escape.
